FAQ

Below are a couple of questions I seem to get a lot. If I have forgotten anything, or if you have any questions not answered below, please feel free to send me an email: rmarsh.dev@gmail.com

1. How do I change the currency in the budget section?

Wedding Plandroid uses your phone’s default locale to detect which currency and currency format to use. If, for some reason, the incorrect currency is shown, you can change this by updating your phone’s Language/Locale settings.

To do this go to: Settings ->Language & Keyboard -> Select Language.

From there you can select your preferred language and locale.

2. What are all these permissions for and why would they cost me money?

  • DIRECTLY CALL PHONE NUMBERS: In both your Guests and Vendors sections, you can store contact information. You can then proceed to call these contacts directly from the app. Wedding Plandroid, does at no time contact anybody without you making the call.
  • NETWORK COMMUNICATION: In the vendors section you can go online with the app to search for vendors through the internet. There are no other network communications happening in the background. This may change in a future version when in-app advertisements are added.
  • FULL INTERNET ACCESS: In the vendors section you can go online with the app to search for vendors through the internet. There are no other network communications happening in the background. This may change in a future version when in-app advertisements are added.
  • YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION: To access a user’s contact list, the application needs permission to do so. This permission is needed so that Wedding Plandroid can access your contact list when you add a Guest or Vendor via your phone-book. At no point does Wedding Plandroid collect personal information.
  • READ CONTACT DATA: To quickly add guests or vendors, Wedding Plandroid allows you to add them directly from your contact list. Wedding Plandroid does not access your contact data without you making the request.
  • STORAGE: For the back-up and restoration of your database, Wedding Plandroid saves/imports the data to your SD card. No other data is stored or retrieved from your storage.

3. How do I set or change my wedding date?

When you first open the application, you will see that in the dashboard, there is a button that you can click to set your wedding date. If you would like to change this at a later stage there are 2 methods

  1. Go to the Dashboard, press menu on your phone and select the “Set Wedding Date” option.
  2. Go to Tasks, press the menu button and select the “Set Wedding Date” option

4. How do I set my total wedding budget?

Go to the Budget section, click on your phone’s menu button and select “Set Budget”

5. Is there anyway to synch the data on my phone to the data on my partner’s phone?

Currently, there is no direct way to synch data between two users. The only solution at this point is to export your database to the SD card, insert SD card in partner’s phone and import your database from the SD card to their application. This is a very round-a-bout solution and I’m looking at better methods in a future release.

6. What on earth is going on, I can’t figure out how to do X!

Each of the sections has a help file. Simply press the menu button and select “Help” to get more info on what you can do and how to do it.

    Does the app work for certain phones or tablets? I’m having trouble installing it on a samsung galaxy 8.9 tablet. Thank you.

      Currently, Wedding Plandroid does not support Honeycomb tablets.

    I just want to double check to make sure that it doesn’t cost me anything as far as the phone calls go, even if I make the call within the app, as long as it wouldn’t normally cost me anything to make the call.

    For instance, if I want to call the church, if I make the call regularly it would only be the minutes that would go on my account. If I make that call thru the app, I want to make sure there aren’t any extra charges tacked on in addition to the minutes on my account.

      Hi Mariah

      To answer your question: No, Wedding Plandroid does not tack on any extra costs for making phone calls. Wedding Plandroid simply shortens the process of exiting the app and making the phone call manually. Keep in mind though, that normal phone call costs still apply. It’s exactly the same as if you would have made the call yourself by dialing the number manually.
